Clermont Foot have sacked manager Sébastien Bichard following a poor start to life back in Ligue 2. He only succeeded Pascal Gastien at the end of the season.
Bichard was brought in in March as part of a gradual transition. He was brought in as an assistant to Gastien with the idea being that he would replace Gastien at the end of the season. Bichard arrived at a point where relegation back to Ligue 2 looked an inevitability, so it became obvious that his task would be to bring Les Auvergnats back into Ligue 1.
However, he has now paid the price for a poor start to the season, which saw Clermont Foot pick up just nine points from their first 10 games. Touted as one of the promotion favourites, they currently sit 14th in the second division. Bichard’s departure by mutual consent was confirmed on Monday. Emmanuel Gas has taken interim charge.
