Empoli have officially announced the signing of Tino Anjorin on a permanent transfer from Premier League side Chelsea.
The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year contract at the Castellani, which will run until the summer of 2027.
Recent reports suggest that Empoli have avoided paying Chelsea a transfer fee, as Anjorin had one year left on his deal at Stamford Bridge and was unlikely to feature under Enzo Maresca.
Instead of a fee, it is understood that Chelsea have retained a 50% sell-on clause.
The former England youth international made just five appearances for Chelsea’s first team during his 16-year spell on the club’s books. He had joined the academy system as an under-7, and progressed all the way through every age group.
Though he has earned an appearance in the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Champions League, the majority of Anjorin’s professional experience has come while out on loan.
He spent the first half of the 2021-22 season on loan with Lokomotiv Moscow, 2022 on loan in the Championship with Huddersfield, and 2023-24 on loan with League One winners Portsmouth.
