Olympique de Marseille have officially announced that Enzo Sternal (17) has signed a contract extension which will keep him in the South of France until 2027. Sternal represents one of the most exciting talents within the Marseille reserves and has been frequently involved in the club’s preseason friendlies making an appearance in every game so far for Roberto De Zerbi’s squad.
However, despite this positivity, the former AS Nancy Lorraine prospect had appeared unlikely to sign an extension with the club back in late May. There were reports that Sternal had been left unimpressed by Marseille’s contract offer of a one-year extension. However, these issues have since been resolved.
There are hopes that with De Zerbi in charge of the club, there may be more involvement this year for the promising crop of players that helped the club win the Coupe Gambardella (the U17 cup) last season. And with Sternal’s new commitment, he has been provided with a new squad number (the 22 shirt).
