La Liga outfit Espanyol have this week announced some altogether positive news on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that key defender Leandro ‘Lele’ Cabrera has committed to a fresh deal with the club.
Stopper Cabrera, for his part, is fresh off an impressive individual campaign in Barcelona.
One of the first names on the team sheet at Espanyol throughout the year, the 33-year-old racked up 32 La Liga starts, chipping in with a noteworthy four goals and two assists along the way.
And yet, until just this week, Cabrera’s continuity at the RCDE Stadium had been somewhat up in the air.
The stopper previously announced that he would only put pen to paper on an extension to his expiring terms in the case of Espanyol securing La Liga survival.
With as much now in the bag, though, Cabrera has officially agreed to stay put.
As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of the Periquitos, the club’s defensive stalwart has signed a renewal through the summer of 2026.
