FIFA has officially announced the 26-man shortlist for the FIFPRO Men’s World XI, and Barcelona have emerged as one of the standout clubs with four players in contention.
The Blaugrana’s remarkable 2024/25 campaign continues to bring recognition, with Pau Cubarsi, Pedri, Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha all nominated for a place in the world’s best eleven.
The winners will be revealed at the upcoming edition of “The Best” FIFA Awards, where the football community will learn which players make up the elite team of the year.
After a season in which Barcelona lifted three major trophies, La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup, it is no surprise to see their stars dominating the nominations list.
Leading the defensive nominations is Pau Cubarsi, who became a pillar in Hansi Flick’s system.
He played a total of 56 matches, contributing one goal and four assists despite his centre-back role.
The defender was also nominated for both the Kopa Trophy and the Golden Boy, further highlighting his rapid rise.
Pedri also earns his deserved place among the nominees. The midfielder was the heartbeat of Barcelona’s treble-winning campaign, delivering six goals and nine assists across 59 appearances.
Beyond the statistics, Pedri’s intelligence, passing precision, and leadership were instrumental to the team’s success.
Meanwhile, Raphinha enjoyed arguably the best season of his career.
The Brazilian winger was directly involved in 57 goals – 34 scored and 23 assisted – an extraordinary tally that cements his place among Europe’s most decisive attackers.
Finally, Yamal rounds off Barcelona’s quartet of nominees. At just 18 years old, he continues to redefine what’s possible for a young footballer at the highest level.
Yamal, who finished second in the Ballon d’Or, registered 18 goals and 21 assists across all competitions.
If he were to win The Best award, he would become the youngest player in history to achieve the honour.
