Official: Frosinone welcome Grillitsch and Schmid with Austrian delicacy | OneFootball

Frosinone welcomed Austria internationals Florian Grillitsch and Romano Schmid with a very special gift of a classic cake from their homeland.

The double swoop was completed today, after both players had arrived to undergo their medical tests over the last 48 hours.

Grillitsch was a free agent after his contract with Braga ran down and has put pen to paper on a one-year deal with the Canarini, but the club has the option to extend until June 2028.

As for Schmid, he was purchased from Werder Bremen for a reported fee of €8m, leaving the German side after six years where he scored 17 goals in 181 appearances.

He has signed a four-year contract with the newly-promoted Serie A side.

The two Austria internationals were welcomed with a truly thoughtful gift, a classic Sachertorte, which was developed in Vienna’s iconic Hotel Sacher.

It is a chocolate sponge cake with layers of apricot jam and a chocolate glaze.

Both players were fresh from participating in the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, where they represented Austria.
