SV Werder Bremen suffered a 7-0 mid-season friendly defeat to Twente, with Felix Agu forced off injured after 40 minutes, shortly before the fifth goal.

According to BuLi News, head coach Daniel Thioune said he received a signal shortly before half-time that Agu could not continue. He added it did not look good and he thought the issue was muscular again.

Bremen’s head of football Peter Niemeyer said Agu felt something and went off as a precaution, and he did not want to commit to an assessment. He said weekend imaging, including an MRI scan, will show what it ultimately is.

It was Agu’s first Bremen appearance since the training camp in the Zillertal in mid-July.

The versatile full-back has suffered several similar setbacks in the past, and could miss next Friday’s meeting with Borussia Dortmund.
