La Liga high-flyers Girona have today confirmed that a key member of the club’s first-team squad has put pen to paper on fresh terms.
The player in question? Paulo Gazzaniga.
Shot-stopper Gazzaniga, for his part, made his arrival at Girona permanent last summer, after a year on loan in Catalunya from English outfit Fulham.
And, safe to say, the Argentine has since gone on to fully repay the faith of those behind the scenes at the Estadi Montilivi.
All told, across the season to date, Gazzaniga has featured from the off in all 24 of the Blanquivermells’ La Liga outings.
And his efforts have proven central to the historic campaign being enjoyed by Míchel’s troops, with the 32-year-old’s eight clean sheets having gone a long way towards guiding Girona to the dizzying heights of 2nd in Spain’s top-flight.
In turn, on Wednesday, it should not come as a major surprise to hear of Gazzaniga’s form being rewarded.
As confirmed in an official statement across the club’s website and social media platforms, Girona’s shot-stopping star has signed a new contract, through the summer of 2027:
‘Girona FC and Paulo Gazzaniga have reached an agreement to extend the Argentinian goalkeeper’s contract for two more seasons, until June 2027.’
