Hoffenheim striker Gift Orban’s loan out to Hellas Verona has been officially confirmed. As reported yesterday, there is both a loan fee and a purchase option built into the deal. Kicker currently revises the numbers down a bit, however. The Bundesliga club now reportedly secures a €500,000 fee while Verona maintains an €8m purchase option.
In any event, Hoffenheim’s second transaction of the day remains much more lucrative than their first. An odd deal that saw midfielder Finn Ole Becker sent to Nürnberg permanently featured no transfer fee at all. The departures of Becker and Orban bring the once ridiculously oversized 39-man-Hoffenheim squad down to 32 professionals after Swiss international Albian Hajdari was signed on Monday.
“We received several inquiries for Gift during this transfer window,” TSG sporting director Andreas Schicker noted in a club statement, “During the preseason, a new constellation of TSG strikers emerged. In concert with him, we decided on the loan to Hellas Verona and are convinced that he will be able to fully contribute his qualities in the Serie A.”
