Norwegian goalkeeper Sander Tangvik has officially joined Hamburger SV from Rosenborg BK on a long-term contract.
The 23-year-old arrives as a replacement for Daniel Peretz, whose loan spell from FC Bayern Munich was terminated early.
Tangvik is initially planned to be the second-choice goalkeeper behind the experienced Daniel Heuer Fernandes.
“With the signing of Sander, we have also closed our second planned position in this transfer window at an early stage,” said HSV board member Eric Huwer.
“In doing so, we have found a medium- to long-term solution beyond the summer. This aspect was important to us, because the release of Daniel Peretz was granted on the condition that we strengthen the goalkeeper position in line with the long-term development of our squad value. Claus [Costa, HSV’s sporting director] and his team have done an excellent job in securing a talented goalkeeper.”
Tangvik is looking forward to his new challenge at the North German club.
“I had good and open discussions with the sporting management, in which a clear sporting concept was presented to me and my role in the goalkeeping team was transparently outlined. I am joining a well-functioning team, want to bring energy every day and be there when I am needed,” he said.
“Hamburger SV is a club full of history and tradition, which I have known since childhood and have also followed closely in recent times. In addition, the Bundesliga is a very competitive and strong league. For me, the move is exactly the right step to continue developing at the highest level.”
