Lille OSC have confirmed the departure of their Belgian international defender Thomas Meunier (34) after two seasons with Les Dogues. A free agent, the experienced right-back has since signed for AFC Sunderland.

Having joined LOSC from Trabzonspor in the summer of 2024, the Bastogne-born player quickly established himself as one of the key players in Bruno Genesio’s squad. Having made 46 appearances (two goals, one assist) during the 2024-25 campaign, he once again played a vital role in the northerners’ run to third place in 2025-26, racking up 35 appearances, two further goals and three assists.

Having only just returned from the World Cup, where his side were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Spain (1-2), the Belgian is now set to experience life in England whilst representing the Black Cats. This marks an exciting new chapter for Meunier, who has himself admitted to being “impressed by the ambition, the vision and the desire to move forward” of the Tyne and Wear club.
