In an official statement, SC Bari have confirmed that they have mutually agreed to the contract termination of Jérémy Ménez (36). The former French international’s contract was set to expire with the Serie B club at the end of the season but the two parties have agreed it is best to part ways before the season comes to a close.
Bari signed Ménez in the summer of 2023 on a free transfer from fellow Italian second-division side Reggina. The former Paris Saint-Germain striker struggled to make his mark at Bari, limited to ten appearances throughout the season and only scoring one goal. This was heavily impacted by a cruciate ligament injury which kept him out of action for an accumulative 125 days and forced him out of 17 matches. However, he did return to action following his rehabilitation from the serious knee injury.
Within the official statement, Bari released a potential issue with the former Paris FC forward’s fitness. Their official statement reads, “Best wishes to Jeremy for a full physical recovery”. Perhaps indicating that Ménez has yet to return to full injury since his knee injury and this is one of the reasons for his premature contract termination. It remains to be seen what the 36-year-old has planned next following his exit from the Italian club.
