Official: Kaly Sène signs with Middlesbrough FC and lands in England
Mamadou Kaly Sène has officially joined Middlesbrough FC this Friday, August 29, 2025. The talented Senegalese forward leaves FC Lausanne-Sport in Switzerland to sign with the Championship club until 2029.
The Senegal international departs Switzerland at the peak of his powers. Since the start of the 2025-2026 season, Sène had netted six goals in eight appearances across all competitions for Lausanne, split between the Swiss league and the Conference League qualifiers. This blistering start to the campaign convinced the Middlesbrough management to make their move. The Dakar-born striker missed the return leg of the qualifier against Besiktas on Thursday night to travel to England, complete his medical, and finalize his transfer to the Riverside Stadium.

Rob Edwards and his coaching staff identified Sène as the missing piece in their attacking line. Trained at Juventus Turin, Sène climbed the ranks of European football before flourishing in Switzerland. After a difficult spell at FC Basel, the striker regained his confidence at Lausanne-Sport, netting 19 goals across his last two full seasons. No sooner had he arrived than Kaly Sène made his debut in Middlesbrough FC colors this Saturday, August 30, against Sheffield United, coming on to replace Tommy Conway in the 69th minute.
