Clermont Foot have confirmed that they have parted ways with manager Laurent Batlles with the club looking to avoid back-to-back relegations.

Batlles came in in October with the club in 12th place in Ligue 2 at the time. A poor start to the season came after relegation to Ligue 2 the previous campaign. Sébastien Bichard had led Clermont in the opening weeks of the campaign after replacing veteran manager Pascal Gastien during the off-season.

However, there is no sign of this period of turbulence ending. Currently 17th in Ligue 2, Clermont are in real danger of suffering back-to-back relegations. It is the importance remaining in the second tier that has seen the club part ways with Batlles, as they confirmed on Monday.

Clermont Foot also announced that Batlles would be succeeded by Sébastien Mazeyrat, who has been promoted from his role as manager of the reserve side. He will maintain the post on an interim basis until the end of the season.
