Official: Man Utd sign ‘excellent’ Liverpool winger

Manchester United have announced the capture of Isaac Konde, a promising teenager who developed at Liverpool’s academy.

The 16-year-old is a winger blessed with ‘blistering’ pace and ‘excellent’ ball control, as described by BBC journalist Simon Stone.

Konde has been expected at Carrington for several weeks, and the move has finally been made official on Monday afternoon.

The Red Devils are expected to lose one of the brightest young talents in the world, as JJ Gabriel is keen to leave. However, the club has responded by making a series of exciting new additions to their youth ranks.

Karim Cassim and David Eze have both made the crosstown move from Manchester City, while Konde has now followed suit.

The official Manchester United website confirmed the winger’s arrival with a statement published on Monday.

“Manchester United have agreed the signing of winger Isaac Konde,” reads the club’s official note.

“The talented youngster has joined after leaving Liverpool.

“The 16-year-old had his first taste of Under-18 football at Liverpool, featuring regularly towards the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

“Everyone at the club would like to welcome Isaac to United and wish him the very best of luck.”

Liverpool to receive compensation for developing Konde

Konde is believed to have signed a one-year scholarship deal with Man Utd. But once he turns 17 next month, he’ll be eligible to pen his first professional contract.

When youth players move from one academy to another, they don’t nornally command transfer fees. However, a so-called ‘training compensation’ will be required in this case.

This represents a sort of remuneration for the academy that developed the player that his new club ought to pay.

As reported earlier, Liverpool are expecting multi-million compensation for Konde’s move to Man Utd.

So unless the two rivals manage to find an agreement on a fair price, the Merseyside club will take the matter to a tribunal.
