Manchester City have signed Marseille goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli on a two-year deal, the clubs announced. He has been identified as Gianluigi Donnarumma’s understudy following James Trafford’s move to Leeds United.

Enzo Maresca’s side agreed a €3.8m fee with Les Phocéens for the Argentina international.

Rulli, 34, will wear the No 28 shirt. The former Montpellier and Villarreal keeper arrives as experienced cover.

He joined Marseille in summer 2024 and made 73 appearances for OM. After an outstanding first campaign under Roberto De Zerbi, his form dipped last season.

Marseille have lined up Neom’s Poland international Marcin Bulka as his replacement. The Ligue 1 club have submitted a loan offer to the SPL side.
