Whilst, with limited means, OGC Nice are looking to bring in reinforcements between now and the closure of the transfer window in just four days, the Riviera club have been busy tying down some of their most promising prospects to long-term deals.
Earlier in the summer, Tom Louchet (21), who broke through into the first team during the second half of last season, was rewarded with a new deal that runs until 2027. Then earlier this month, amid interest from Ajax, managed by now-former Nice manager Francesco Farioli, Evann Guessand’s (23) contract was extended until 2028.
Two more contracts have now been extended, that of Antoine Mendy (20) and Victor Orakpo (18). The latter looks set to play a significant part for Le Gym this season and he is one of the major benefactors of the arrival of Franck Haise and the subsequent switch to a back three.
Mendy, like Orakpo, has signed a deal until 2028. Orakpo signed from Bayern Munich in January, integrating the academy set-up. However, he quickly made an impression and has been included in matchday squads this season. Given injuries to Gaëtan Laborde and Terem Moffi, the young striker could, like Mendy, play a part for Nice this season.
