Real Madrid have announced the squad for their upcoming La Liga match against Getafe, with Xabi Alonso making some notable inclusions.
Thankfully, the team has avoided any new fitness issues, allowing most of the usual players to feature.
One of the big positives for Madrid fans is the return of Kylian Mbappe. Not only has the French superstar been named in the squad, but he is also expected to start against Getafe.
Alongside him, Franco Mastantuono, who recently returned from international duty with Argentina and had been nursing some muscle discomfort, has also been included in the squad, giving Alonso additional options in attack.
Notably, despite having trained normally with the group during the week, Ferland Mendy has not been called up for this fixture.
The French full-back joins a growing list of absentees, including Dani Carvajal, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dani Ceballos, Antonio Rudiger, and Dean Huijsen.
These absences leave Alonso with fewer experienced options, particularly in defence and midfield, requiring him to rely on youth talent to fill the gaps.
To cover for the missing players, the manager has turned to Real Madrid’s academy. Sergio Mestre, a goalkeeper, and Thiago Pitarch have been called up to the first team squad, allowing them to gain valuable experience at the senior level.
Despite some notable absences, Real Madrid remain strong on paper. The return of Mbappe will boost the team’s attacking threat, while the inclusion of Mastantuono and youth players provides fresh energy.
Alonso will need to manage the squad carefully, but with the mix of experienced stars and promising youngsters, Madrid will aim to secure all three points at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
