Bundesliga side Wolfsburg on Friday announced the signing of FC Köln central defender Sebastiaan Bornauw, who joins on a permanent basis in a deal that is believed to have cost Die Wölfe €17m including bonuses.
The 22-year-old Belgian defender has signed a five-year contract, until 2026, with Wolfsburg, ending his two-year spell at Köln after joining for €6m in 2019.
Bornauw’s switch to Wolfsburg could have a knock on effect with RB Leipzig showing an interest in 21-year-old French defender Maxence Lacroix, who could leave Wolfsburg this summer should they receive a significant transfer fee.
Bornauw will now travel to Austria for Wolfsburg’s training camp.
