Hamburg have today confirmed that Tim Leibold (29) will leave the club to play in the MLS.
BILD reported last week that the German left-back would move to the US six-months prior to his contract ending in June 2023. Leibold has played just 127 minutes of football all season for HSV.
Although no official confirmation from an MLS club, Leibold is expected to complete a move to Sporting Kansas City with their season starting at the end of February.
During his 3.5 years at Hamburg following his €1.8m move from FC Nürnberg in 2019, Leibold has played 83 games across all competitions for the 2. Bundesliga side, but has been plagued with injuries.
Hamburg currently find themselves second, two points behind leaders Darmstadt. Tim Walter’s side resume their league season against Eintracht Braunschweig on January 29 as they look to secure a return to the top flight.
