Official: Tony D’Amico leaves Atalanta, ready to join Roma | OneFootball

It’s been in the air, and now it’s official: Tony D’Amico is no longer Atalanta’s sporting director.

The Nerazzurri are preparing to launch a new technical project: Cristiano Giuntoli and Maurizio Sarri will be tasked with bringing Bergamo back to Europe’s top stages.

This is the official statement from the club announcing the departure of the director: “THANK YOU TONY D’AMICO! THE CLUB AND THE DIRECTOR SAY HIMSELF WITH MUTUAL GRATITUDE. After four intense seasons together, Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio and Sporting Director Tony D’Amico are parting ways, professionally. The Percassi and Pagliuca families, as well as the entire Atalanta BC, sincerely thank Director Tony D’Amico and wish him the best for the future.”

D’Amico, along with Giovanni Manna, has always been Roma’s top choice to replace Frederic Massara. The Giallorossi never received a glimmer of hope for the Napoli manager, so they settled on a name Gasperini knows well.
