Olympique de Marseille have confirmed that Ulisses Garcia has joined Sassuolo on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy included in the agreement.

The Swiss left-back has struggled for opportunities this season, making just four appearances in Ligue 1 so far. With competition fierce on the left flank and minutes hard to come by, OM have opted to sanction a temporary move that could become permanent next summer.

In a statement published on social media, Marseille confirmed that the loan includes a purchase option worth around €3m, while wishing the 28-year-old the best for the remainder of the campaign. Garcia will now look to relaunch his season in Italy, where Sassuolo are seeking defensive reinforcement for the second half of the Serie A campaign.Teammate Darryl Bakola is also expected to join the Serie A side, where Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi formally managed and where former OM man Ismael Koné currently plays. GFFN | George Boxall
