Bundesliga outfit VfL Wolfsburg have confirmed two loans in the last few days. French fullback Nicolas Cozza – as reported – received his third Nantes loan on Monday. Croatian midfielder Bartol Franjic also saw his reported-on loan to Venezia confirmed yesterday. A third player just returned from a loan stint may depart in the coming days.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Czech winger Vaclav Cerny may be headed to FC Torino. The 27-year-old spent last season on loan with Rangers in the Scottish Premiership. Cerny impressed with 18 goals and nine assists in 51 competitive appearances for the Glaswegians.
Cerny joined the German Wolves in the summer of 2023 on an €8m transfer from Twente Enschede. He scored five goals and contributed two assists in 25 competitive appearances for Wolfsburg in the 2023/24 campaign.
By no means a total flop, Cerny was never able to regularly crack head coach Niko Kovac’s starting XI. Whether or not the 28-times-capped international plays a role in new VfL head coach Paul Simonis’ plans remains questionable.
Wolfsburg may be eager to offset their purchase with full parity. Cerny still maintains an estimated €8m market value. After Scotland, Holland, and Germany, Italy would serve as the fourth country in which Cerny has served professionally.
