After an absence of nearly a year, Brentford’s Kevin Schade is headed back to the German national team. The 23-year-old has officially been nominated by Julian Nagelsmann as a replacement for Stuttgart attacker Jamie Leweling, who is struggling with adductor issues.

Schade last appeared under Nagelsmann during an UEFA Nations League match against the Netherlands during the October 2024 international break. A 13-minute relief appearance would count as Schade’s lone cap of the 2024 calendar year.

Schade earned three caps for the German senior team in 2023 and continues to earn regular minutes in West London. Thus far this year, Schade has started in six of Brentford’s seven Premier League fixtures. To date, the Potsdam native has netted 11 goals in England’s top flight.

Schade’s rapid development in Breisgau led to his Bundesliga club sending him to the Premier League on loan in 2023 with an easily triggered purchase option that would net Freiburg mega millions. Freiburg are current attempting to replicate this via a similar loan deal involving Merlin Röhl and Everton.
