Elye Wahi (23) could return for OGC Nice when they face SCO Angers on Saturday, and according to Nice-Matin, Le Gym could be tempted to extend the Frenchman’s stay at the club.
Wahi joined Nice in January on a straight loan deal from Eintracht Frankfurt. Due to limited funds and austerity measures, the Ligue 1 club could not include a buy option in the deal, but that isn’t to say that Nice aren’t looking to extend the forward’s stay at the Allianz Riviera.
The former Olympique de Marseille, RC Lens, and Montpellier HSC forward hit the ground running, scoring three goals in his first six games in Ligue 1 before sustaining an ankle injury that has ruled him out for several weeks.
As a result of his form and also his attitude since making the move in the winter, Nice are considering an attempt to retain Wahi by extending his loan until the end of next season. There are not yet any talks between clubs, although the player would be open to an extended stay, Nice-Matin understands.
