Cameron Brannagan converted from the spot in the 57th minute to put Oxford United ahead in a 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic. His nerve from twelve yards set the tone in a tight Championship tie.
The midfielder struck low into the bottom left, a composed finish that rewarded Oxford's growing pressure after the restart.
He then kept Oxford on the front foot with sharp distribution and seven successful final third passes, only for the visitors to level in the third minute of second half stoppage time.
Brannagan's all-round work underpinned the display: five tackles, three won, and eight possessions won, plus two attempts that signalled constant threat between the lines.
Oxford's shape gave him pockets to receive and recycle quickly, and his positioning drew Charlton out and helped the hosts control second balls and transitions through the middle.
Oxford rise from 22nd to 20th in the Championship and visit Southampton next. Charlton host Norwich City next.
