OGC Nice set for summer firesale as austerity measures hit

It will be a busy summer at OGC Nice. There is a feeling of temporality at the Azuréen club. Claude Puel’s reign is only interim, whilst Jean-Pierre Rivere and Maurice Cohen, co-presidents having replaced Fabrice Bocquet mid-season are both scheduled to depart come the end of the season.

There is even a question mark surrounding the future of sporting director Florian Maurice, whilst the club’s owners, INEOS, are still looking to sell, even if they did put in €35m this season in order to keep the club afloat, L’Équipe understands.

Nice could become unrecognisable off the pitch and on it, too. To deal with the ongoing TV rights crisis and the lack of any form of European football, Le Gym will have to resize and so there is expected to be a firesale in the summer, as per L’Équipe.

The players concerned are mostly those who will have just one year remaining on their contracts come the summer. That includes Sofiane Diop, Hicham Boudaoui, Morgan Sanson, Youssouf Ndayishimiye, Ali Abdi, Tom Louchet, Salis Abdul Samed, Terem Moffi, and Jérémie Boga.

However, Le Gym are also open to selling their two most valuable players, Melvin Bard and Mohamed-Ali Cho, whose contracts run until 2028.
