Youcef Atal (27) looks set to depart OGC Nice and join Adana Demirspor, according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Nice have been looking for opportunities to sell Atal. The 27-year-old, whose contract with Les Aiglons expires at the end of the season, was found guilty of provoking racial hatred and handed an eight-month suspended prison sentence, as well as a €45,000 fine, however, as reported by France Bleu Azur, he will challenge this ruling.
Atal was suspended not only by the club but also by the LFP. As a result, he didn’t feature for Nice between October and December, however, upon his return from the AFCON at the end of January, Atal was theoretically available for selection once more.
“The communication has been clear: he is under contract until June. He will return to the team. His suspension is over, so he is available,” said Francesco Farioli in a press conference, attended by Get French Football News in late January. However, Atal has not been included in matchday squads, despite returning to training, and sporting director Florent Ghisolfi confirmed that a departure was being considered.
Le Gym have been looking for an opportunity to present itself, and according to Foot Mercato, that has now happened. The transfer window in Turkey closes on Friday 9th February and before its closure, Adana Demirspor are looking to complete a move, with Farioli confirming on Friday that talks were ongoing. The Algerian international is set to undergo a medical before signing a contract until the end of the season. The details of the move are yet to be revealed.
