Oliver Glasner used the international break to draw on experience inside Nottingham Forest’s dressing room and keep perspective after last month’s Coventry City defeat, which followed victory over Aston Villa. The loss left Forest still waiting for a first home win of the season.
“I think I switched off a little bit, but of course I've also thought about it,” Glasner said. “I asked and talked to a few players, asked some players… I'm here for three months now, some players have been here for many years so they know the club much better than I do, so I can learn from them, and this is what I'm doing.” He told the Nottingham Post.
“The truth is somewhere in between, and this is where we are right now. The job, I see, is to get more consistency in our performances on a higher level. That's what we want to do, and this is what we have to do.”
Those not on international duty returned to the Nigel Doughty Academy earlier this week, with only a small group available. With numbers light, Forest have arranged a friendly on Saturday to get 11 against 11 work they cannot replicate in training. The Premier League campaign resumes on 11 October at Crystal Palace, Glasner’s former club.
Defender Nikola Milenkovic has been among the group and is expected to be available after missing the last two fixtures. On his recovery, Glasner added: “Yes, he should be available for Palace.”
