Nottingham Forest are exploring a £55m move for Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders as Oliver Glasner reshapes his squad. The Daily Mail reports that the midfielder is open to joining after struggling for starts since a £47m switch from AC Milan.

With Elliot Anderson and Rodri expected to anchor City’s midfield next season, Reijnders faces further time on the bench, whereas he could be central to Glasner’s plans at the City Ground. After selling Anderson to the former Premier League champions, Forest are keen to reinvest.

He had been linked with Atletico Madrid earlier in the window, but that interest cooled once a £60m valuation emerged. City could do business at £5m less, which would still represent a profit on last summer’s fee.

Forest have banked £116m for Anderson and are pushing for a much improved campaign under Glasner, appointed after Vitor Pereira’s exit. Ousmane Diomande is also being pursued, with the 22-year-old Ivory Coast centre-back granted leave from Sporting’s pre-season while his future is resolved.

He is due to return to work in Lisbon on Tuesday. His price is about €40 million, and the sticking point appears to be how much is paid up front and whether further fees should be due in future clauses.

Chelsea striker Liam Delap is said to be of interest to Forest amid suggestions he could leave Stamford Bridge following the arrival of head coach Xabi Alonso.
