Olivier Létang beats Stéphane Richard in vote to replace Pablo Longoria at EFC | OneFootball

Lille president Olivier Létang has been elected to the EFC board, taking 27 of 32 votes ahead of Marseille counterpart Stéphane Richard. He fills the seat vacated by Pablo Longoria.

According to L'Équipe, the ballot took place on Tuesday afternoon in Copenhagen during the EFC general assembly. The position was reserved for a French representative.

Longoria has left his role at Marseille, meaning he can no longer sit on the EFC board. He nonetheless attended in Copenhagen, a presence that surprised some.

The main clubs from England, Germany, Spain, Italy, France and the Netherlands voted to decide between the candidates. Létang, long active in European football’s corridors, held the advantage of seniority.

At the Bella Center he spoke with several counterparts, including Barcelona president Joan Laporta. Domestically he is aligned with Nasser al-Khelaïfi and LFP president Vincent Labrune, while OM are in opposition with Rennes, Lens and Le Havre. Al-Khelaïfi is also PSG president and head of the EFC.
