Olivier Létang and Stéphane Richard in contention for EFC board seat | OneFootball

The EFC board election takes place in Copenhagen on Tuesday, with Lille president Olivier Létang and Marseille counterpart Stéphane Richard vying to replace Pablo Longoria, according to L'Équipe.

Longoria was elected to the board in September 2023. After leaving the Marseille presidency he also relinquished roles on the LFP board, where he had been vice-president, and within European Football Clubs, the new name for the ECA.

Shéhérazade Semsar-de Boisséson, vice-chair of the supervisory board, won a seat on the LFP board in June last year, but Longoria’s place at EFC remains open. The organisation represents nearly 850 professional men’s and women’s clubs.

Richard, who succeeded Longoria at Marseille, is new to football circles and has underlined his different profile and business background. He previously chaired the GSMA for several years, the global association for mobile operators and manufacturers.

LOSC chief Létang is more embedded in Europe’s network. He has pointed to roughly 15 years’ experience, Lille’s results, with the club second among French sides in UEFA’s coefficient, and a commitment to defending clubs of all sizes.

The contest has been courteous, with no acrimony. EFC president Nasser al-Khelaïfi previously backed Juan Sartori of Monaco and Longoria in September 2023, when Longoria was very close to him. Since then Marseille owner Frank McCourt has chosen a rupture with PSG and its president.
