Olivier Pantaloni begins life in charge of OGC Nice, aiming to instil respect and rigour without overplaying it, as Lorient visit on Saturday at 20:45, live on Ligue 1+.
According to L'Équipe, he took the job this summer after a delicate split with Lorient, and now meets his former club in the opening round.
On Thursday, for the first time since last winter, Nice opened training to the public, with nearly 500 supporters watching from behind the fence.
Among them was Kévin Giausserand, 31, who arrived with a “pichoui” over his shoulders and spoke of a rebuild after a difficult last season. He viewed Pantaloni as a good fit for his simplicity, willingness to use young players and humility.
His methods will receive an early examination against Lorient.
