2 players Plymouth Argyle should have on their radar and try sign before the transfer deadline on 1 September.
Despite over 10 new signings at Home Park this summer, Plymouth Argyle are still somewhat short of quality in some areas, which will need addressing if they want to compete at the sharp end of League One this season.
It was always going to be difficult for the Greens to keep hold of some of their key players from last season following relegation, but some may not have foreseen the extent of the damage these departures would cause.
With players such as Ryan Hardie, Adam Randell, and Makysm Talovierov all departing the club this summer, there have been plenty of bodies coming through the door to try and plug the gaps left by these exits.
This has seen Tom Cleverley's side get off to a fairly wretched start upon their return to League One, and clearly lacking quality in some key areas on the pitch.
Whilst recent deals have seen the biggest problem areas fixed, there is still plenty of room for improvement.
So, Football League World identified two players Plymouth should sign before the transfer window shuts on September 1st.
One area of the pitch that has drawn plenty of criticism recently is the goalkeeping department, with usual first-choice Conor Hazard currently sidelined with a knee injury he sustained whilst on international duty in June.
This saw free agent goalkeeper Luca Ashby-Hammond signed as cover for the Northern Irishman, having been released by Fulham in the summer, and undergoing a successful trial period with Argyle over pre-season.
However, it seems the 24-year-old has been slightly thrown in at the deep end in League One, as he continues to deputise for the injured Hazard, with a number of poor errors leading to goals.
With that in mind, it's clear that the Pilgrims need a strong backup goalkeeper who is experienced at the level, and a move for experienced shot-stopper Jed Steer could be a smart move on Plymouth's part.
Despite being released by Peterborough United, Steer has played plenty of matches at League One level and above, and has always proven to be a safe pair of hands when called upon.
Signing the 32-year-old will also likely have a positive impact on a shaky defence, as having a more experienced keeper behind them will boost the confidence of the Argyle backline.
Whilst the midfield has been the least of Argyle's issues early in the season, they could certainly do with another option in the engine room, just in case an injury crisis arises once again.
Someone who could be available, whether it be on loan or permanently, is Swansea City's Ollie Cooper, who could be allowed to depart the Welsh side this summer in search of regular minutes.
The 25-year-old brings a wealth of Championship experience, having played well over 100 games for the Swans in his career, and also offers some versatility, being able to play in central or attacking midfield.
With Swansea boss Alan Sheehan hinting at his potential availability before the window closes, Plymouth should move quickly and add another quality option in the middle of the park to their squad, giving Cleverley a bit more depth in the middle of the park.
