Scans appear to have ruled out significant knee damage, but a muscle strain is still troubling the 29-year-old, who trained away from the main group before the game.
Head coach Gustavo Alfaro said they would test him on matchday, he remains in pain despite tests indicating no major issue, and with little time they will wait until the last moment.
Paraguay v Germany kicks off at 9.30pm UK time, live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Simon Adingra’s Ivory Coast meet Norway on Tuesday evening at 6pm, then Nilson Angulo’s Ecuador play Mexico in the early hours of Wednesday.
The winner of that tie will face either England or DR Congo, with Noah Sadiki and Arthur Masuaku up against Thomas Tuchel’s side on Wednesday at 5pm.
Habib Diarra is due to feature when Senegal face Belgium on Wednesday at 9pm, before Granit Xhaka wraps up Sunderland’s group-stage involvement as Switzerland take on Algeria early on Friday.
