On-loan Sunderland pair Isaac Allan and Jake Waters were praised after helping Hebburn Town win 2-1 at Bamber Bridge, a result that leaves them three points from a shock Northern Premier League title and promotion to National League North. According to Sunderland Echo, both have been key in the run-in.
Allan, on loan for the past two months, produced several outstanding saves in a testing away fixture. Waters came on at half-time and worked tirelessly to see out the win.
Manager Daniel Moore said Allan kept Hebburn in it with big saves after racing from his line. He felt the subs turned the game, paired two up front with Gaz to chase the win, and praised Waters’ work-rate.
Hebburn will be crowned Premier Division champions if they beat Rushall Olympic at home next Saturday, the final match of a remarkable season. They lead on goal difference from Hednesford Town, while FC United of Manchester can move within two points of the top two by beating Stockton Town at home on Tuesday in a rearranged fixture.
Moore said focus will not waver this week and training will stay the same. He believes his players have put themselves in an unbelievable position after going toe-to-toe with outstanding clubs. He saluted the squad for giving themselves a shot at the title.
