Cardiff City target more midfield signings after completing second summer deal | OneFootball

Cardiff City have confirmed the arrival of Jack Moylan from Lincoln City on a four-year deal.

The Bluebirds had already made the loan move of goalkeeper Nathan Trott permanent earlier in the window but Moylan becomes the first fresh face through the door this summer.

The attacking midfielder joins with high hopes, after starring in the Lincoln side that beat Cardiff to the League One title last term. He netted 11 goals and provided seven assists in the league last season.

His impressive campaign saw him named in the League One Team of the Season and nominated for the division’s Player of the Season award.

Moylan was rewarded for his form with an international call-up this summer. The 24-year-old fired home a hat-trick on his debut for the Republic of Ireland, as they thrashed Grenada 5-0. He followed that up with an assist on his second international appearance, although he was later sent off in that 1-0 win against Qatar.

“There were a lot of factors,” Moylan said on his transfer move. “It’s such a big club, such a nice city, and Brian [Barry-Murphy] has such a good reputation. The way he plays football, I think I’ll really enjoy it.

“I’ve watched the team a lot over the last year, and watched last weekend against Roma, and the football speaks for itself.”

Despite Moylan’s arrival, Cardiff will still look for further reinforcements in midfield. “It’s an area of the pitch we’re still looking to improve and strengthen,” admitted boss Brian Barry-Murphy last weekend.

The Bluebirds had been pursuing Norwegian Jens Hjerto-Dahl. However, they are now resigned to the fact that the midfielder looks set to join Premier League outfit Hull City.

Cardiff will now turn their attention elsewhere, as they continue to prepare their squad for their return to the Championship.
