Barcelona star Ronald Araújo will be available for a reduced transfer fee during the upcoming summer window.
That’s according to Marca, who have this weekend provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.
Uruguayan international Araújo is of course fresh off committing his long-term future to Barcelona.
Following weeks of speculation linking the 25-year-old with a winter departure, Araújo was instead convinced to stay put by boss Hansi Flick.
This was followed by a swift contract renewal for the defender, who extended his terms from their prior expiration date in 2026, all the way through 2031.
And yet, as part of his new deal, Araújo also kept at least some semblance of control when it comes to his future.
This comes amid confirmation that, between July 1st and 10th, the stopper will see his release clause slashed by over €900 million.
As per a report from Marca:
‘Araujo’s release clause remains at the 1 billion euros he had in his previous contract. However, in the summer a period of time opens in which this amount disappears and becomes 70 million euros.’
