Marco Asensio changed it in the first minute of first half stoppage time with a left-footed strike from outside the box, as Fenerbahçe won 2-0 at Kocaelispor.
Fed by Talisca on the edge, Asensio arrowed into the top left from range on the stroke of the interval, the moment that shifted control towards the visitors.
He released Kerem Aktürkoğlu for a shooting chance from outside the box that skimmed wide (65.), underlining his threat between the lines. He later made way as the job was done (88.).
He finished with two key passes, six recoveries and 29 of 36 passes completed, numbers that showed how he linked midfield to attack while still putting in the work without the ball.
With Kanarya repeatedly finding him in advanced pockets, his positioning kept Kocaelispor's back line off-balance and ensured the visitors dictated the key phases after the breakthrough.
Kanarya remain second in the Süper Lig and host Gençlerbirliği next. Kocaelispor visit Kayserispor in their next league fixture.
