Birmingham City are said to be interested in signing Fatih Karagumruk striker Fabio Borini this summer, as per a recent report by Gianluca Di Marzio.

The former Sunderland and Liverpool frontman has been in fine form for the Turkish club of late and notched up an impressive nine goals and one assist last season in just 20 league games.

It is now said that the Blues are keen on bringing the Italian back to England this summer, with Lee Bowyer being keen to add to his attacking options for the 2021/22 campaign.

Borini currently has just one year remaining on his contract at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium and could well be tempted by a move back to English shores after also taking in a spell with Chelsea as a young player.

Here, we take a look at ONE winner and ONE loser at Birmingham City if the club ties up a deal for the striker…

Winner – Lukas Jutkiewicz

The towering front man would certainly benefit from having someone in alongside him to help share the goal scoring burden and for that reason he would definitely be the winner if Borini joined the Blues.

Borini is capable of playing wide on the flanks or through the middle as a support striker, meaning that he would be able to chip in with the goals that Birmingham largely missed last term.

This would take some of the pressure of the shoulders of Jutkiewicz moving forwards, with the big target man having top scored with eight goals last season.

The two players could form a deadly partnership moving forwards for the Midlands side.

Loser – Sam Cosgrove

The January signing from Aberdeen is yet to score in 12 appearances for the Blues and would surely be one of the main losers of Borini arriving at St Andrew’s.

Cosgrove has already been linked with a potential loan move to Ipswich Town this term and it appears that Bowyer is keen to see more from the big target man.

If he fails to hit the ground running this season in a blue shirt, there is every possibility that he could be shipped out in some capacity.

Borini’s arrival would be bad news for the 24-year-old, as he could slip further down the pecking order as a result of his slow start at Birmingham.
