Only two La Liga clubs have no player with a Barcelona past this season | OneFootball

Barcelona are comfortably leading LaLiga at the start of this season, with seven consecutive victories and a historic goal-scoring start under Hansi Flick.

But beyond their dominance on the pitch, the club’s influence, especially through La Masia, appears to have taken over La Liga by storm.

According to Mundo Deportivo, only two teams in LaLiga this season do not have a single player with a Barcelona past.

In total, 35 players currently plying their trade in La Liga have worn Barcelona colours at some point, whether in the youth ranks or the first team.

Only Racing Santander and Elche have squads without any such players, making them the exceptions in a league heavily populated by Barcelona graduates.

It is a striking illustration of just how prolific La Masia has been over the years, even if the vast majority of these players never truly established themselves at Camp Nou.

Deportivo A Coruna lead the way with six former Barcelona players, including Marc Casado, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Adama Traore, all of whom arrived over the past year.

Real Betis and Celta Vigo each boast four, while the likes of Rayo Vallecano and Valencia have three apiece.

The trend has only intensified following Barcelona’s summer clearout, which saw several young academy players leave in search of regular football.

Even Barcelona’s fiercest rivals feature Blaugrana products. Real Madrid have Marc Cucurella, who spent years in the club’s youth setup, while Atletico Madrid signed Alejandro Grimaldo, once the youngest debutant in the history of Barcelona’s reserve side.

Real Sociedad, meanwhile, added Hector Fort this summer to complement Take Kubo.

Elsewhere, the likes of Athletic Club’s Robert Navarro, Villarreal’s Ilias Akhomach and Malaga’s Adam Aznou, a close friend of Lamine Yamal, all spent time in Barcelona’s academy before forging their careers elsewhere.

It underlines the sheer scale of Barcelona’s talent production, with players unable to break through at the very highest level still going on to enjoy successful careers in Spain’s top flight.
