Trabzonspor beat Galatasaray 2-1 in Trabzon, rising from third to second in the Süper Lig and claiming their first league win over the Istanbul side since January 2022.
Paul Onuachu opened the scoring with a glancing header in the fourth minute after Wagner Pina's cross from the right. After the restart, Wilfried Stephane Singo levelled from close range (48.). Chibuike Nwaiwu restored the lead with a towering header from Anthony Nwakaeme's set piece delivery (62.).
André Onana kept Trabzonspor in front with smart stops, notably denying Mario Lemina before the break, as the visitors piled in crosses and shots.
Okan Buruk's double change at half time injected impetus for Aslan, with İlkay Gündoğan and Eren Elmali on, and Barış Yılmaz supplying the equaliser's assist from the right.
Trabzonspor made it count without the ball, registering 13 attempts from 36.2% possession and defending their box stoutly. Aslan dominated territory with 63.8% possession, 19 attempts and 10 corners, but found limited end product.
The result also keeps Onuachu top of the Süper Lig scoring chart on 22 goals this season. Next, Trabzonspor visit Alanyaspor. Aslan travel to Göztepe.
