Opinion: Manchester City is benefiting from all eyes being on Arsenal

When you win the league title, you generally become favourites to be champions in the following campaign, and that is exactly the case for Arsenal this season, as the Gunners look to ensure they win the title again.

Everyone expects Arsenal to be the best team in the league, and there is significant hype surrounding them, particularly because of the way they defend during matches to secure victories and valuable points. Their defensive strength has become one of the main reasons they are regarded as serious contenders.

The Gunners have one of the strongest squads in the league, and they continue to impress whenever they play in every competition. Their consistency has given supporters plenty of reasons to expect success, but the attention surrounding them could also create an additional challenge as the campaign progresses.

Arsenal Must Handle the Pressure

The expectations placed on Arsenal could ultimately make it harder for them to win the league title. With so much focus on their performances, every result and decision involving the team is likely to attract considerable attention, increasing the pressure on the players to deliver whenever they take to the pitch.

While most people focus on Arsenal, Manchester City are having a good season and are benefiting from the attention being directed towards the Gunners during this campaign. At the weekend, City scored a contentious goal against Manchester United, but the incident did not attract as much attention as it might have done had Arsenal been involved.

This situation could prove beneficial for City, and it may not be the last time a decision works in their favour. Such moments could become important when the campaign reaches its conclusion, particularly if the title race remains closely contested.

Manchester City Could Challenge Arsenal

City have a new manager and are not under the same level of pressure as Arsenal, which could work to their advantage. They can continue to focus on collecting results while Arsenal deal with the expectations that come with being the favourites to retain the league title.
