Opinion: Would you replace Gyokeres with Osimhen?

Victor Osimhen appears to be available to leave Galatasaray this summer, with Tottenham reportedly interested in signing the Nigerian striker.

Osimhen has established himself as one of the world’s best strikers since he helped Napoli win the Italian league title at the end of the 2022/2023 season. He has spent the last two campaigns in Turkiye, where his performances have continued to attract attention.

Tottenham interest could concern Arsenal

Tottenham are keen to sign Osimhen, and the possibility of the striker moving to North London could worry Arsenal supporters. The Gunners may regret not adding him to their squad if he joins their rivals and performs at the highest level.

Osimhen has been highly productive in front of goal, scoring 41 league goals in the last two seasons while also providing 10 assists in 52 league appearances. His record shows the impact he can have as a leading attacking option.

The discussion surrounding Osimhen comes after Arsenal added Gyokeres to their squad. The Swedish striker performed well during the second half of last season and finished the campaign with 14 Premier League goals overall.

Osimhen offers proven experience

Arsenal have found it difficult to consistently provide Gyokeres with the best opportunities in their system, and he is still adapting to the way they play. However, Osimhen arrives with experience of winning a league title and being the leading scorer in one of Europe’s major competitions.

The Nigerian has the qualities and reputation required to succeed at the highest level, and it can be argued that he may be a stronger option than Gyokeres when considering the physical demands of English football.

Gyokeres still has the opportunity to improve and become an important player for Arsenal. The decision between keeping faith with the Swede or pursuing a striker like Osimhen would present a difficult choice for the club.

Osimhen’s potential availability has created another talking point for Arsenal, especially with Tottenham showing interest. The striker’s proven goalscoring record makes him an attractive option, but Arsenal must decide whether they are satisfied with their current attacking plans.
