Nico O’Reilly and Rayan Cherki are City’s two nominees for this year’s PFA Young Player of the Year award.
Both enjoyed stellar campaigns, with O’Reilly already claiming the Etihad Player of the Year award as well as the Premier League’s Young Player of the Season vote.
The 21-year-old Academy graduate has shone at left-back and in midfield, playing 53 games in total and directly contributing to 15 goals.
It’s Cherki’s second nomination of the day, having also been put up for the PFA’s Players’ Player of the Year gong.
The 22-year-old French international scored 10 times and provided 15 assists in an exciting start to life in England.
This award has been won by a City player on five previous occasions.
Peter Barnes was the first to do in 1975/76 before Leroy Sane did so in 2017/18 and then Raheem Sterling followed him in 2018/19.
Phil Foden then claimed it twice in a row in 2020/21 and 2021/22.
O’Reilly and Cherki will be competing against Arsenal’s Max Dowman, Bournemouth’s Junior Kroupi, Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo and Liverpool’s Rio Ngumoha for the prize.
The winner will be announced in a special ceremony at the Manchester Opera House on Tuesday 25 August.
