Manchester City match-winner Nico O’Reilly said it was an ‘unbelievable feeling’ after scoring both goals in the club’s 2-0 Carabao Cup final win against Arsenal.

City won the first silverware of the season after beating the Premier League leaders at Wembley. After a tense first half, Pep Guardiola’s side dominated the second period with O’Reilly’s quick-fire double sealing a ninth League Cup crown.

O’Reilly, who celebrated his 21st birthday yesterday, capitalised on Kepa Arrizabalaga’s error to head home an opener on the hour, before nodding in a second from Matheus’ Nunes cross just four minutes later.

It continues a breakout campaign for the academy graduate, who has now scored 10 goals in all competitions.

“Unbelievable feeling. To win a final, to beat this team we know how good they are. We need to build on it, it will give us good momentum. Buzzing with today,” he said, speaking to Sky Sports:

“Bit of disbelief seeing all the fans cheering like that when I scored those goals. Really a good feeling and a great birthday weekend.

“My whole family came down today. They are all in the stand and I know they will be buzzing. I can’t wait to celebrate with them.

“Since I was a kid I always played in midfield, I was always arriving in the box and scoring goals. To bring it in at senior level and the highest level, it’s good for me and adds goals to my game. A great feeling.”
