Representatives of a Santos organised supporters’ group met the first-team squad at CT Rei Pelé on Monday and, in their account, pushed through changes to the club’s day to day access rules.

According to Diario Do Peixe, president Marcelo Teixeira, football executive Alexandre Mattos and head coach Cuca did not attend the meeting. The club was represented by presidential adviser Junior Bozzela, football manager Gustavo Ferreira and communications manager Vagner Wilaron, with Léo and assistant coach Cesar Sampaio representing the staff.

Supporters demanded explanations after the team slipped back into the relegation zone following the 2-0 defeat to Athletico-PR on Sunday. In an official note, they said players accepted part of the blame but also pointed to structural problems, including dressing-room leaks and unauthorised people at CT Rei Pelé and on club trips.

The same note said an agreement was reached between players, the supporters’ group and club communications that only players, coaching staff and directors will have access to CT Rei Pelé, team travel and dressing rooms, home and away.

The statement also pressed for victory against Vasco at São Januário next Sunday, in round 23 of the Brasileirão.
