Manchester United target Orlando Gill has opened up on his future. The Paraguayan goalkeeper was a revelation for his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Gill arrived at the summer’s spectacle as a relatively unknown name. The 26 year old joined Argentine club San Lorenzo de Almagro in 2023 on loan from his hometown side CS San Lorenzo, but struggled for regular game time.
He was signed permanently in 2025 and went on to keep 29 clean sheets in 58 games, subsequently catching the eye of national team coach Gustavo Alfaro. Despite the presence of Roberto Fernandez and Gaston Olveira in the squad, Alfaro turned to Gill at the 2026 World Cup and he did not disappoint.
Gill had a disastrous start to the summer’s spectacle, conceding four goals in his nation’s 4-1 defeat to hosts USA in the Group D opener. However, the player refused to let that setback affect his natural game.
He responded by keeping clean sheets in the next two group stage games, which included a win against Turkey and a draw against Australia. That was enough to enable Paraguay to qualify for the Round of 32 and set up a date against Germany.
Gill took his performance to a higher gear against Die Mannschaft, saving two penalties to secure a 5-4 shoot-out victory. He was even adjudged the Player of the Match for his performance, marking a tremendous upturn in fortunes for a player who once had to sell his jersey and boots to afford his child’s treatment.
Gill’s run in the World Cup, however, was ended by France in the Round of 16, with Les Bleus securing a narrow 1-0 win. Nevertheless, the Paraguayan won the Player of the Match once again, and subsequently turned heads at Old Trafford. He has now provided an update on his future.

Speaking recently to Ole, as cited by Sport Witness, Gill revealed that he has received offers to leave San Lorenzo, but has not decided his future. He said: “Offers are arriving, but until something is concrete I’m going to keep thinking about San Lorenzo.”
Gill went on to add that he remains settled with the Argentine club, adding: “I still have a contract with San Lorenzo. If nothing official happens, my head is at San Lorenzo.”
United recently secured the services of Karl Darlow, so it is unclear whether they would move for another goalkeeper this summer. Meanwhile, Senne Lammens remains the established No. 1 at the Theatre of Dreams, and Gill may be unwilling to play second fiddle to the Belgian.
Gill is among quite a few players who have exploded at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and subsequently turned heads at major clubs in Europe. The Paraguayan’s stop-stopping ability certainly makes him a fine option for United, especially if United are looking for stronger competition for Lammens.
With Altay Bayindir and Radek Vitek expected to be on their way this summer, the Red Devils could be tempted to consider a move for Gill for the right price.
