Pirates progress to next round of CAFCL after claiming Lioli scalp

Orlando Pirates advanced to the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League after a 4-0 win over Lioli FC at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

The Soweto giants took the lead through in-form winger Tshepang Moremi, who opened the scoring on the stroke of half time.

Moremi doubled his tally four minutes after the restart to hand Pirates a healthy two-goal cushion early in the second half.

Yanela Mbuthuma came off the bench and got on the scoresheet in the 79th minute, before completing his brace two minutes later.

As a result, Abdeslam Ouaddou’s men secured a 7-0 aggregate win over the Lesotho champions, having won the first leg 3-0 last Saturday.

Pitates will face the winner between Saint-Eloi Lupopo of DR Congo and Sudanese giants Al-Merreikh for a place in the group stages.
