Ajax announced on Tuesday that Oscar Garcia, 52, has been appointed head coach of their reserve team.
Garcia arrives as a free agent after a brief spell at Chivas Guadalajara in Mexico last year.
He replaces Willem Weijs, whose contract has been terminated.
Chosen by Jordi Cruyff, the club’s new technical director, Garcia has signed until 2027.
He previously managed Saint-Étienne in 2017 and Reims from 2021 to 2022.
Garcia and Cruyff were team-mates at Barcelona in the 1990s.
Ajax’s under-23s are 20th and bottom of the Dutch second division.
